Roof Brace System

Horizontal brace on the steel building roof is mainly used for transferring horizontal force to secure roof rigidity.

Working as roof bearing member, Open roofpro is mainly equipped with two kinds of roof brace.

One is soft brace of rod steel ofф18-ф30 which is actually single way tensile rod. Due to bigger slenderness ratio, the rod steel has almost no capacity for press. Rod brace will not be calculated for operating when press is applied, such as rod of ф25 Q235 can take tensile of 105KN.

Another type is rigid brace which is normally used as single or double angle. For example, Q235 single angle of 8.4m long L90*6 can take tensile of 229KN. Because the slenderness ratio is still big, effect of being pressed will not be calculated and single tensile rod is also considered for it.

Due to hollow web structure, soft brace is normally put through roofpro web. Rigid brace is normally put below bottom chord of roofpro and combined with it.

In view of roof with heavy crane, rigid brace is normally used.

Method Two of Roof Brace Arrangement for Roofpro in Big Column Space and Heavy Crane:

In view of roof with heavy crane in over 15m column space, the structural engineers from some experienced big design institute are accustomed to put rigid brace in small grid divided by crossing members. This can reduce the length of brace in partial with a better structural force effect.

Take 15m column space for example: conditions as: roof dead load of 0.3KN/m ,live load of 0.5KN/m ,joist space of15m, joist strut of 750XG2.5/150*3 will be selected. The bottom chord as brace can hold press of KN and the weight of joist strut is only KG.

Single angle of L is suggested for roof brace. In above case, the axial press on it will be KN (arrangement considered as 45 degree)
